I love grilled veggies. All summer long I throw random vegetables on the grill to see how they turn out. What’s better than grilled veggies you might ask? Grilled veggies wrapped in bacon! Because bacon just makes all things better (IMO)! These bacon wrapped asparagus spears were fantastic on the Blackstone griddle and had such great flavor with minimal prep work!

How to Make Bacon Wrapped Asparagus
The title is pretty self explanatory, but I did discover a couple of helpful tips I want to share with you.
You’ll want to purchase thick stem asparagus for this recipe. I tried it with both thick and thin stems and found that the thicker stems held up better, because they took longer to cook through, while cooking the bacon. The bacon stayed wrapped around these stems better as well. However, if thin is all you can find, I suggest wrapping 2-3 spears together to help them cook slower.
If you have really long pieces of asparagus you may decide to use the whole slice of bacon, however my asparagus was shorter so I found half slices to work the best.
Start by wrapping the bacon around the asparagus stem at an angle, working your way up the stem.
Note: Try to keep the start and end of the bacon slice on the same side. I found this helped to keep the bacon wrapped without needing to use toothpicks. In the above photo you can see the bacon didn’t wrap around the asparagus stem more than once. This is because the bacon slice was to short and later it became an issue as they cooked. I found that you really need to wrap the bacon so it circles the stem at least twice to stay in place better.
Once you have all your asparagus stems wrapped, preheat your Blackstone Griddle to medium-high heat. Add a small amount of oil to help prevent the bacon from sticking.
Place each wrapped asparagus stem on the griddle with the side that has the bacon ends down to begin with. This aided in it not unwrapping as the bacon shrank while cooking.
Rotate frequently to help the bacon cook evenly and to keep it wrapped around the stems.
Once the bacon is crispy and the asparagus is tender, remove from the griddle and enjoy!

Bacon Wrapped Asparagus
Ingredients
- 2 Bunches Asparagus Stems, Large
- 1 Lbs Bacon
- Salt
- 2 Tbsp Oil for cooking
Instructions
- Wash Asparagus spears and cut off the ends.
- Cut bacon into half slices (Note: If asparagus spears are extra long or you like a lot of bacon, use the whole slice)
- Wrap each slice of bacon at an angle around one spear of asparagus. When you finish wrapping, try to keep the start and end of the piece on the same side of the spear. This will help it stay wrapped as it cooks.
- Heat Blackstone Griddle or fry pan over medium high heat. When preheated, drizzle a little cooking oil on the surface and place the asparagus spears bacon seam side down.
- Flip the spears frequently to cook evenly and keep the bacon wrapped.
- When the bacon is crisp and the asparagus spears are tender remove from heat and enjoy!
